New England Vintage Base Ball League

The New England Vintage Base Ball League was formed in 2002. Our league has adopted a slightly modified version of the 1860 rules as written by Henry Chadwick. The teams of the NEVBBL play each other in at least 2 home and away games each season. Additional games are often scheduled as well. (See our Calendar for upcoming games.)In the fall the season culminates in the League Day event where all teams gather for intra-squad games, food and drink and the
presentation of the coveted Cherry Bat award, which goes to the team that has amassed the best record that year. The 1861 division is currently comprised of 6 teams from 3 New England States:

Masachusetts:

Melrose Pondfeilders
Essex Base Ball Club

Rhode Island:

Bristol Blues

Connecticut:

Middletown Mansfields
Hartford Dark Blues
Mystic Oceanics

In addition to our league games you will also find NEVBBL teams competing in many of the local vintage base ball tournaments throughout New England. This season league teams will be participating in our very own Melrose Victorian Fair Games, as well as the Silver Ball Tournament in Rochester New York and the Harftord Vintage Baseball tournament in Hartford, Connecticut.

Game Day

The typical game day takes place on either a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Games are usually played in doubleheaders with a 10 or 15 minute break between games. Come and join us for a game! (See our Calendar for upcoming games.)
